Allie Visits the Trail of Tears

I went to Livingston County to the Trail Of Tears. The Indians walked across the United States when Andrew Jackson took their land. I saw a lot of different wonderful things like a mantel. A mantle rock was a shelter for the Indians on their journey. It is a sheet of rock ( sand stone) 30 ft. tall and 188 ft. long. I saw many caves that the Indians kept shelter in. There was Berry’s Ferry which is where the Indians crossed into Illinois. One group had to wait weeks out in the cold before crossing waiting for the river to thaw out.
